How does the directional brake work on these castors?
The directional brake is a foot-operated mechanism that, when engaged, locks the wheel to prevent it from rolling. This keeps the castor — and the equipment it is fitted to — stationary on the floor. Unlike a total-lock brake that also immobilises the swivel head, a directional brake allows the swivel to remain free while stopping forward and backward wheel movement. This is particularly useful on trolleys and carts where you want to hold a position without fully fixing the unit in place. To release, simply press or lift the brake lever with your foot.
