Description
50mm Fixed Castor — Grey Rubber on Polypropylene Wheel, 4-Bolt-Hole Top Plate, 60kg Load Capacity
A pressed steel, zinc-plated fixed castor designed for reliable, straight-line mobility across hard and semi-hard floor surfaces. Engineered for use on trolleys, workbenches, storage units, light industrial equipment, and domestic furniture, this castor combines a grey rubber tread bonded to a black polypropylene core — delivering quiet, floor-friendly movement with a 60kg per-castor load rating. The fixed (non-swivel) configuration provides directional stability, making it the preferred choice wherever controlled, linear travel is required.
Key Performance Features
- Fixed Non-Swivel Design: Provides straight-line directional control — ideal for trolleys and equipment that travel in a defined path.
- Grey Rubber Tread on Polypropylene Core: The rubber outer layer absorbs vibration, reduces rolling noise, and protects hard floor surfaces from marking or scratching.
- 60kg Load Capacity Per Castor: Supports up to 60kg individually; when four castors are fitted, the combined maximum load capacity is 180kg.
- Zinc-Plated Pressed Steel Plate: Corrosion-resistant finish suitable for indoor environments including warehouses, workshops, retail spaces, and domestic settings.
- 4-Bolt-Hole Top Plate Fixing: Secure, permanent bolt-on mounting for stable attachment to equipment frames and furniture bases.
- Plain Bearing: Low-maintenance bearing type suited to moderate-duty, regular-use applications.
- Compact 72mm Total Height: Low-profile build integrates neatly beneath furniture and equipment without raising clearance height significantly.
Typical Applications
Warehousing & Storage
Suitable for picking trolleys, shelving units, and storage racks where straight-line movement and load stability are essential.
Workshops & Light Industry
Ideal for workbenches, tool carts, and equipment stands in manufacturing and maintenance environments.
Retail & Hospitality
Well-suited to display units, service trolleys, and furniture in retail and hospitality settings where floor protection is a priority.
Domestic & Office Use
Appropriate for home storage furniture, appliance bases, and office equipment requiring occasional repositioning on hard floors.

* Load capacity figures are based on evenly distributed static loads across all four castors on a level surface. Dynamic loads, uneven surfaces, or impact loading will reduce effective capacity. Always consult a qualified engineer for critical load-bearing applications.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a fixed castor and a swivel castor?
A fixed castor is mounted in a set position and only allows movement in a straight line — forwards and backwards. A swivel castor rotates 360 degrees, allowing movement in any direction. Fixed castors are typically used in combination with swivel castors: two fixed at the rear for directional stability and two swivel at the front for steering. For applications requiring purely linear travel, all-fixed configurations are also common.
Will these castors scratch or mark hard floors?
The grey rubber tread is specifically designed to be gentle on hard floor surfaces including wood, tile, vinyl, laminate, and concrete. Rubber-wheeled castors distribute load more evenly than hard plastic wheels and are far less likely to cause surface marking or scratching under normal operating conditions.
How do I fit a 4-bolt-hole top plate castor?
The top plate is secured using four bolts (M6 or equivalent, not supplied) through the four 6mm diameter holes in the plate. The plate measures 60mm in length by 67mm in width, with hole centres at 48mm and 38mm in both directions. Mark and drill the corresponding holes in your equipment base, align the plate, and fasten securely with appropriate bolts, washers, and nuts. Ensure the mounting surface is structurally sound and capable of supporting the intended load.
Can I use these castors outdoors?
These castors are designed and rated for indoor use. While the zinc-plated steel plate offers a degree of corrosion resistance, prolonged exposure to moisture, rain, or outdoor conditions is not recommended and may reduce the service life of both the plate and the wheel. For outdoor or wet-environment applications, a stainless steel or nylon-wheeled castor would be more appropriate.
