The directional brake locks the swivel head, preventing the castor from rotating freely and fixing it to roll in a straight line only. This is useful when you need to guide a trolley or cart in a controlled direction without the wheel spinning sideways. It does not stop the wheel from rolling — for a full wheel lock, a total-stop brake castor would be required.
What floor surfaces is a cast iron wheel suitable for?
Cast iron wheels perform best on hard, smooth, or semi-smooth surfaces such as concrete, stone, tarmac, and steel plate flooring. Due to their hardness (85 Shore A), they are not recommended for use on delicate or polished floors such as hardwood, vinyl, or ceramic tiles, as they may cause surface marking or damage under load.
