Why it works
Total lock brake – wheel and swivel held together
A standard wheel brake stops the wheel rolling but still lets the castor spin round, so equipment can creep sideways when it is leaned on. This castor's foot-operated brake locks the wheel and the swivel head at the same time. Press the grey pedal to lock and lift it to release; you never need to bend down.
Grey rubber tyre – quiet and floor-friendly
The 24mm-wide grey rubber tyre on a rigid polypropylene centre absorbs small bumps and grips the floor, so the castor runs quietly and is kind to vinyl, tiles, laminate and sealed wood. Grey rubber is less likely to leave dark scuff marks than black rubber.

Where it's used
Shop display stands and fixtures, office pedestals and furniture, school furniture, AV and IT stands, light trolleys, and small catering or laboratory equipment on round or square tube legs that must stay put once positioned. Best on smooth indoor floors such as vinyl, tiles, laminate, sealed wood and sealed concrete.
Choosing the right option
Check the fixing first: this castor needs an M10 bolt or M10 threaded insert in the leg; for a flat base, a top plate castor is easier to fit. For brakes, most equipment has total lock castors on two corners and plain swivel castors on the other two; the matching unbraked 60mm bolt hole castor with a grey rubber wheel keeps the set level. For the load, add up the weight of the item and everything on it and divide by three rather than four, because on an uneven floor one castor is often lifted; if the answer is over 65kg, step up to a larger castor. A 60mm wheel keeps equipment low but is less forgiving over thresholds than 75mm or 100mm wheels. Allow 82mm of swivel clearance around each castor.
Installation, use and care
Fit an M10 bolt of the right length up through the swivel head into the leg or threaded insert and tighten until the head sits flat and firm. Turn the castor so the pedal points outwards where your foot can reach it. Check the fixing after the first few weeks, keep the wheel and brake clear of threads and debris, and wipe clean with a damp cloth. Keep the rubber tyre away from oils and solvents. Bring equipment to rest before applying the brake.
