Description
About This Product
This 100mm pressed steel swivel castor with directional brake is a precision-engineered heavy-duty wheel unit designed for demanding industrial, warehouse, and workshop environments. Fitted with a grey cast iron wheel and mounted on a robust 4-hole top plate, it delivers reliable load-bearing performance up to 140kg per castor. The integrated directional brake locks the wheel in place to prevent unintended movement — making it the preferred choice for trolleys, mobile workbenches, industrial carts, and factory floor equipment where controlled mobility and positional stability are essential.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the maximum load this castor can support?
Each castor is rated to a maximum load of 140 kg. When used as a set of four castors, the combined rated capacity is 420 kg. It is recommended to apply a safety margin and not operate consistently at the maximum rated load.
How does the directional brake work?
The directional brake is a foot-operated mechanism that locks the wheel to prevent it from rolling. It does not lock the swivel head, so the castor can still rotate 360° when the brake is engaged. This is ideal for situations where you need to stop a trolley from rolling while still being able to reposition it.
What surfaces is the grey cast iron wheel suitable for?
Grey cast iron wheels perform best on hard, smooth, or semi-rough surfaces such as concrete, tarmac, and sealed warehouse floors. They are not recommended for use on soft flooring, delicate surfaces, or environments where floor protection is a priority, as the hard wheel material may cause surface marking.
How is this castor mounted and what fixings are required?
This castor uses a 4-hole top plate for bolt-through mounting. The plate measures 100 mm x 85 mm with hole centres of 80 mm (length) x 60 mm (width) and a hole diameter of 10 mm. Standard M10 bolts are typically used. Ensure the mounting surface is flat, structurally sound, and capable of supporting the intended load.
